Subscribe How to Clean Cycling Shoes

Cycling boots are known for their incredible durability and tight soles that can overcome bike pedals. These types of shoes are uncomfortable to walk and are designed for the sole purpose of biking. It is lightweight and provides good ventilation. Materials such as carbon fiber are used to increase the viscosity of the soles. These shoes should be done at least twice a month to stay clean.

Here's how to clean cycling shoes:


  1. Prepare essential ingredients for cleaning, such as detergent soap or liquid, soft brush; Bucket filled with water, white vinegar to remove stain and kitchen towels for drying.
  2. Cleaning materials should be pre-made to make cleaning more efficient and time-saving. Avoid using harsh chemicals during cleaning. Any cleaning soap that comes in different forms or brands can be used as long as the shoes are safe and there are no foul ingredients.
  3. Fill the bucket with water and add plenty of detergent soap. Mix well until you have enough soap to remove the dirt on the shoes. Add more soap if needed for proper cleaning.
  4. Remove shoe laces and soles from shoes. If the inserts are not sticky and can be removed, leave them out. There are detachable shoes on the soles or inserts and the others are adhesive. It is better to leave them if the same happens. Do not remove forcefully.
  5. Soak the shoes in a bucket with soap solution for about 20 minutes. This allows the stain to be completely removed as well as deep seated dirt. If there is still stains or dirt, allow another soaking time for 30 minutes.
  6. After soaking, remove the shoes and brush the dirt and stains using a soft brush. The toothbrush is easy to use because it has a long handle and soft brittle, making it ideal for boots. Put pressure on brushing to completely remove stains.
  7. If you have stubborn stains that cannot be removed with soap, write white vinegar. Add a small amount on the stain and wait a few minutes until the stains are removed.
  8. Rinse the shoes with running water. Make sure all residues are removed. Dry the shoes using kitchen towels. It helps to absorb excess water and maintain the shape of the shoe. Allow the shoes to dry for about 24 hours.
  9. Be careful when cleaning shoes. Do not apply bleach even though the shoes are white because it will change the look of the shoes. Be gentle in rubbing shoes so that it does not tear.
